Nick Kleinschmidt - Suit

I’m Nick Kleinschmidt. I’m a 25 year old software developer living in Arlington, Virginia. I live with my girlfriend and our four cats.

At my first job out of college, domain credentials were created using the first eight letters of your last name, so I ended up with ‘kleinsch’. The folks at the office thought it was a good nickname and it stuck, so now my blog is named Kleinsch.

My startup is Rassling Cats Software. I write iPhone applications and am working on my first app to submit to the App Store. I’ll be blogging my way through putting together my first app in hopes of helping other potential developers. Since I’m working on a game this will be focused strongly on game technologies, but there will be lots of general pieces as well.

I currently work for LucidMedia Networks. We do contextualization for online advertising, allowing for better brand safety and optimization. Aside from financial companies and top 10 Internet sites, there aren’t a lot of places that see request volumes like online ad companies. It means that we have to design horizontally scalable systems at a much lower latency than is usually acceptable for other applications. Most companies would be happy to get their requests down to 200 milliseconds processing time. For us, that’s an order of magnitude too high. I usually have some great challenges to think about on the way to work in the morning.
